Essential themes of classical Christianity are illumined by selected readings from representative masters, ancient medieval, and modern. Here is a God-given opportunity to enter into the heart of our faith and formation tradition, to grow closer to God, and to nourish the deepest longings of our heart with the “gourmet food” of formation theology. This signature program helps us to fulfill our mission and ministry to reclaim the classics of our Judeo- Christian faith and formation tradition. At these sessions we follow an ecumenical, wholly orthodox approach to spiritual deepening through the art and discipline of formative reading. Sample themes are: On Knowing the One True God; On the Meaning of Love; and On Giving and Receiving Spiritual Direction.
The First Mondays Enrichment Experiences program will be held on Saturday mornings from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Epiphany Association campus. This year we will be exploring many theme from Growing in Zeal to Showing Compassion and Deepening Patience.
EVENINGS OF REFLECTION
Please come and be our guest for an evening of prayer, reflection, and sharing our faith as we celebrate together the seasons of Advent and Lent.
- Advent Evening -- Entering into Spiritual Childhood is an advent reflection with Fr. Ralph. December 5 from 7 - 8:30pm.
- Lenten Evening -- Encountering the Risen Lord - March 21, 2010 7 - 8:30 P.M.
Conversations in Christ is the most basic kind of formation we receive. It implies that we open ourselves honestly and humbly to life call disclosures that come to us from such common sources as shared spiritual reading groups; listening attentively to a well-prepared homily, connecting what we learn of spiritual formation with our daily experiences through journaling or conversing with like-minded seekers about topics pertinent to prayer and action that matter to us. With this idea in mind, we invite you to join us for our Direction-in-Common sessions.
- (Fall Only) Word of Wisdom for Our World. Tuesdays from 7 - 9:15 p.m. September 28, October 5, October 12, October 19.
Steve Geitgey's Reading Program for Spiritual Growth
Even leisure reading can be spiritually good reading when done in the light of the great insights of Christian “classics.” This course helps you do just that, combining wonderful short stories with excerpts from the writings of the spiritual masters. If you like to read, this is the course for you! Come read and grow! Steve will host this monthly program on Saturday Mornings at Epiphany from March to October of each year.
Special Programs
To meet the needs of the audiences we serve in the context of ongoing spiritual formation, we continually add to the Academy offerings new courses and programs rooted in formative reading of scripture and the masters.
